Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • To lead by example, stressing attention to detail. To care and be efficient in giving the personal service t the guest;
  • Takes over the duties in the absence of the Food and beverage Manager / Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and ensures a smooth running of the operation;
  • Meets requests given by the Food and beverage Manager / Assistant Food and Beverage Manager;
  • Ensuring that the mis-en-place is properly prepared and that presentation is in line with the hotel standards;
  • Assist in checking that all cutlery, crockery, glassware, linen and furnishings throughout is maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene;
  • Encourage upselling;
  • Ensure that all staff are smart, alert and highly motivated;
  • Acknowledging the guest, hosting, answering the telephone according to the company standard, greeting and seating guests;
  • To ensure a consistently high standard of service skills by smart, well trained staff who are directed and highly motivated;
  • To control the emotions of any guest who is complaining by adopting a caring and efficient manner and to follow up any cases reported by staff;
  • To be efficient, caring and friendly in all communications when dealing with guests and colleagues;
  • To be professional, co-operative with staff. Be a good team member, flexible and agree to carrying out instructions given by your superiors;
  • Conduct on the job training and ensure that standards, behaviour and proper grooming is adhered to at all times;
  • To be responsible for all money transactions, cash float and billing procedures;
  • To ensure that the proper hygiene standards are adhered to at all times by all team;
  • Daily cleaning duties to be followed or any duties assigned by his/her superior;
  • To adhere to all company rules and regulations;
  • Ensures that the standard telephone procedure is adhered to;
  • Comply with Company Grooming Standards;
  • Comply with Time and Attendance Policies;
  • Actively participate in training and development programs and maximize opportunities for self-development;
  • Demonstrate service attributes in accordance with industry expectations and company standards including:
    • Being attentive to Guests;
    • Accurately and promptly fulfilling Guests requests;
    • Anticipate Guests needs;
    • Maintain a high level of knowledge which affects the Guest experience;
    • Demonstrating a ‘service’ attitude;
    • Taking appropriate action to resolve guest complaints;
  • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to Health, Hygiene and Fire Safety;
  • Familiarise his/herself with emergency and evacuation procedures;
  • Ensure all security incidents, accidents are always logged in a timely manner and brought to the attention of the Duty Manager/Food and Beverage Manager;
  • Be aware of the hotel's conservation of energy saving policies. Co-operates with the team and members of management and be supportive and loyal to the company. Meets any other request given by the Food and Beverage Manager/Assistant Food and Beverage Manager or the General / Assistant General Manager.

Experience

  • Candidates must have at least 1-3 years’ experience in a similar environment.

  • Ability to interact positively and communicate well with superiors, management, co-workers, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach;
  • Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality;
  • Ability to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take constructive criticism, to get along with co-workers and superiors, to treat co-workers, superiors and members/guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior;
  • Should be able to work under pressure and also work in long or break shifts;
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, suppliers, and employees;
  • Fluency in English Language;
  • Be smart in appearance.
