Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the coordination of projects, initiatives, and services, ensuring proper follow-up, timely execution, and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders;
  • Ensure programmes and initiatives are implemented according to plan and escalate issues or delays to the relevant superior when required;
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, network devices, and peripherals;
  • Support the administration of core IT systems, including servers, storage solutions, and cloud-based platforms;
  • Ensure IT operations are delivered in line with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
  • Identify opportunities for IT automation and digital transformation initiatives and support improvements to business processes through technology;
  • Manage and track incidents, service requests, queries, and complaints through internal and MITA-aligned service desk systems, ensuring proper follow-up and resolution;
  • Maintain IT asset inventories, oversee lifecycle management of IT equipment, and ensure proper usage of assigned equipment;
  • Assist in implementing security controls, user access management, and endpoint protection measures;
  • Support the administration and maintenance of network infrastructure, including network termination, port patching, and periodic LAN and Wi-Fi performance checks;
  • Support IT compliance initiatives in line with government regulations, contractual obligations, and internal policies;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, procedures, and records;
  • Assist in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new IT systems and software solutions;
  • Provide training, guidance, and IT awareness to employees, promoting best practices and correct use of organisation-provided technology;
  • Ensure tasks are completed within agreed timeframes while maintaining high service quality standards and contributing to organisational objectives;
  • Provide leadership and guidance to officers within the section, supporting motivation, commitment, and the setup of new subsections when required;
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of required IT-related items and coordinate with other directorates and units as necessary;
  • Provide general administrative support and carry out any other duties as delegated by the superior from time to time.

Experience

  • In possession of O-Level qualifications (MQF Level 3) in at least 4 subjects, together with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience or a minimum of four 4 years’ relevant work experience in a similar role.

Personal Skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both Maltese and English;
  • Highly organised, efficient, and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to think strategically and act proactively.
