Our client is a leading operator in the hospitality industry.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the supervision and direction of the finance department and take over its management in the Financial Controller’s absence;
  • Carry out general accounting duties such as data entry;
  • Review the finance functions throughout the month, whilst being responsible for reviewing and checking all entries;
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts to ensure financial stability, for the business;
  • Assist in the preparation of the Management Accounts issued on a monthly basis;
  • Assist in drafting budgets, tax returns, and other reports required by the regulatory authorities;
  • Prepare all reconciliations for all accounts in the trial balance;
  • Provide training to staff members regarding financial processes;
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of all finance staff members in relation to cash goods and security controls;
  • Supervise and control the department’s activities and participate actively in solving any problems that may occur;
  • Delegate work to achieve an efficient and effective distribution of the workload and flexibility with an aim to improve the performance of the team members;
  • Search for potential solutions focused on improving the current processes;
  • Liaise with superiors on matters that require guidance;
  • Ascertain that all matters regarding accounts remain of a confidential nature;
  • Assist in the management of the finance department,  in a professional and efficient manner, while motivating the team members and participating in their career development and training;
  • Meet any other requests as directed by the Financial Controller or the General Manager.


  • Be in possession or in the final stages of an accounting degree or equivalent;
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Proficient computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, month-end reporting, etc.);
  • Experience with accounting packages;
  • Fluent in both Maltese and English language.
