Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead and manage the engineering and workshop teams, ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery;
  • Plan and allocate departmental resources, workloads, and priorities to ensure efficient operations;
  • Support the development, mentoring, and performance management of engineering staff;
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement;
  • Oversee engineering projects, maintenance works, and service operations from planning through to completion;
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with technical specifications, timelines, budgets, and quality standards;
  • Provide technical expertise on complex matters and manage escalated operational issues;
  • Coordinate workshop and field service activities to optimise service efficiency and responsiveness;
  • Monitor departmental performance, including financial performance, project costing, and resource utilisation;
  • Review and approve quotations, contracts, and service agreements to ensure technical and commercial viability;
  • Support senior management in improving operational efficiency, cost control, and overall service performance;
  • Ensure compliance with OEM standards, including those of MTU – Rolls-Royce Solutions, and other relevant technical requirements;
  • Maintain strong relationships with OEM partners, suppliers, and external service providers;
  • Support audits, reporting requirements, and compliance reviews;
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with regulatory, classification, and company standards;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders;
  • Manage major technical issues and service escalations, including urgent support when required;
  • Represent the engineering function in meetings with clients, partners, and regulatory authorities.

Experience

  • Warranted Engineer qualification or equivalent recognised engineering certification;
  • Significant experience within marine, mechanical, power generation, or industrial engineering environments;
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing workshop or service operations;
  • Strong understanding of OEM service requirements, compliance standards, and technical reporting;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Fluent in both Maltese and English.
