Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and execute the company’s direct tax strategy, ensuring alignment with broader financial and business goals;
  • Provide expert advice on direct tax planning, compliance, and risk management, keeping the organization informed of relevant regulatory changes;
  • Monitor updates in tax legislation and assess their potential impact on the business or clients;
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of direct tax returns to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance;
  • Advise on corporate tax, capital gains tax, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, tax treaties, and other direct tax matters;
  • Offer tax-efficient structuring guidance for mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other corporate transactions;
  • Serve as the main point of contact for senior management, tax authorities, auditors, and external advisors on all direct tax issues;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients;
  • Represent the organization in tax audits, disputes, and negotiations with relevant authorities;
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the direct tax team to strengthen technical expertise and overall performance;
  • Manage team resources to ensure timely and efficient delivery of tax advisory services;
  • Promote a collaborative culture that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team;
  • Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks through advisory and compliance initiatives;
  • Maintain robust tax governance and internal control frameworks;
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and board members outlining tax risks, opportunities, and compliance status.

Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or an equivalent professional tax qualification;
  • At least 2 years’ experience in direct tax advisory, ideally with exposure to leadership or supervisory responsibilities;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of direct tax legislation, regulations, and industry best practices;
  • Experience with multinational organizations and handling cross-border tax matters is highly desirable;
  • Proven ability to manage complex tax projects, audits, and dispute resolutions;
  • Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office applications.
