- Provide strategic leadership and vision to the Project Management Department, driving continuous improvement and excellence in project delivery;
- Define and implement departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure successful project execution across all phases;
- Guide, mentor, and support project managers, promoting professional development and ensuring consistent project performance;
- Lead the development of comprehensive project plans, including scope, deliverables, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery targets;
- Monitor departmental budgets, manage resource allocation, and oversee operational and training costs to ensure financial control and alignment with company goals;
- Introduce cost-optimization strategies to enhance departmental efficiency and increase overall profitability;
- Analyze performance indicators and financial data to identify process improvements and drive higher profit margins;
- Collaborate with project teams to identify variation opportunities that add value while maintaining quality standards and client satisfaction;
- Prepare and present financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, for senior management review and decision-making;
- Maintain accurate financial records, including detailed Works in Progress (WIP) tracking, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory frameworks;
- Allocate and manage internal resources effectively to meet project requirements and organizational priorities;
- Partner with other departmental leaders to ensure optimal cross-functional resource utilization;
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and promote continuous skills development within the project management team;
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, expectation management, and issue resolution;
- Align stakeholder interests with project objectives through proactive coordination and relationship-building;
- Address stakeholder concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely, professional manner;
- Ensure all departmental activities comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations;
- Oversee the implementation of legal, health, safety, and quality standards across all projects, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability.
Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Fire Safety & Security Management, or a related discipline, ideally with practical exposure to project environments;
- A minimum of 3–4 years of proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering projects;
- Possession of a valid Maltese driving license;
- Proficient in project management tools, with a good understanding of budgeting and financial aspects of project delivery;
- Basic understanding of verbal Maltese is considered an asset;
- Project management certification (such as PMP or PRINCE2) would be considered an asset;
