Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate closely with management on technical VAT matters, including the development and improvement of internal procedures;
  • Oversee and review VAT compliance work carried out by junior team members across a varied client portfolio;
  • Handle complex VAT-related matters, including advisory work, cross-border VAT implications, and sector-specific VAT treatments;
  • Analyse legislative updates and assess their impact on client obligations and internal processes;
  • Review VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and other related submissions for accuracy and compliance;
  • Support clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing statutory requirements;
  • Liaise with tax authorities on VAT-related matters, including compliance queries, audits, and investigations;
  • Attend client meetings to provide guidance on VAT matters and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in VAT or indirect taxation;
  • Professional qualification or certification in taxation will be considered an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of Maltese and EU VAT legislation;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
