Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee and manage daily bookkeeping activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures;
  • Engage with clients to gather financial information and maintain a thorough understanding of their business operations through regular interactions;
  • Maintain complete and accurate accounting records and prepare periodic management reports (monthly, quarterly, annually);
  • Prepare annual management accounts in line with relevant accounting standards and company policies;
  • Coordinate with auditors to support regulatory compliance and facilitate audit processes;
  • Handle VAT registrations and ensure clients’ compliance with VAT legislation and reporting obligations;
  • Keep up to date with technical updates, accounting standards, and changes in financial regulations;
  • Assist senior management with ad hoc financial analyses, reporting, and related tasks;
  • Provide guidance on VAT matters, including cross-border transactions, partial exemptions, and compliance with Maltese and EU VAT legislation;
  • Support clients with EXO number applications, ensuring all documentation is complete, compliant, and submitted correctly. Act as the main point of contact throughout the process, liaising with authorities as needed;
  • Assist the internal team with complex VAT compliance issues, resolving technical queries, and ensuring statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role;
  • Hands-on experience preparing management accounts, financial reports, and VAT compliance;
  • Familiarity with VAT legislation, financial regulations, and cross-border transactions;
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
