Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Act as the primary client contact, building strong relationships, understanding client needs, and delivering tailored accounting support;
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and applicable regulatory standards;
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including involvement in hiring, training, performance management, and professional development;
- Manage onboarding of new clients, ensuring seamless integration of financial data and processes into the firm’s systems;
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing for multiple clients, including reconciliations, journal entries, and review of final results;
- Review client bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll to ensure accuracy and compliance;
- Coordinate external audits on behalf of clients, liaising with auditors and ensuring audit recommendations are implemented;
- Assist clients with budgeting and forecasting, providing variance analysis and financial insights to support decision-making;
- Establish and maintain internal control frameworks for clients to safeguard assets and ensure reliable financial reporting;
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and tax reporting obligations at local, regional, and national levels;
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen accounting operations;
- Oversee the use and integrity of client accounting systems and software, ensuring data security and quality;
- Collaborate with other internal departments to deliver comprehensive financial support for cross-functional client projects;
- Review employee timesheets to verify compliance with internal policies and client agreements;
- Prepare and issue client invoices based on approved time entries and contractual terms;
- Contribute to formal staff performance processes, including setting objectives, monitoring progress, and providing structured feedback.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACCA qualification (or in progress) considered an asset;
- Minimum of 6 years’ progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, ideally within client accounting or a client service environment;
- Strong knowledge and practical understanding of financial reporting standards;
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
