Our client is a group of companies operating in the FMCG sector.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Take full responsibility for ensuring operational excellence within the Health and Safety department;
  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal health and safety policies and strategies, including safety operational procedures;
  • Conduct health and safety activities in alignment with the company’s business goals and legal requirements;
  • Identify opportunities for improved work practices, introduce safety equipment, and streamline processes to enhance performance across various business locations;
  • Collaborate with subcontracted health and safety officers and site supervisors to ensure adherence to safety recommendations and procedures;
  • Oversee investigations into health and safety concerns, ensuring thorough assessments and corrective actions;
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators for the H&S department, striving for continuous improvements across the organization;
  • Work with departmental teams to review and update procedures, introduce new processes, and conduct annual internal health and safety audits;
  • Perform unannounced site audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and address any discrepancies promptly;
  • Foster a positive, professional relationship with employees, supporting their engagement in safety initiatives;
  • Promote a health and safety culture that encourages active employee participation and promotes ongoing awareness.

Experience

  • Hold a Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety;
  • Experience in the Food Industry is a valuable asset;
  • Ideally, a registered 'competent person' with the Maltese Occupational Health and Safety Authority.

Personal Skills

  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Skilled in multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, and managing time efficiently;
  • Detail-oriented with a systematic, organized approach to work;
  • Quick to adapt to new working environments and challenges;
  • Possess a positive, proactive attitude with a “can do” approach.
