- Provide legal guidance in relation to borrowing arrangements, loan documentation, and the perfection of securities;
- Advise and collaborate with internal departments on matters concerning lending facilities and related legal implications;
- Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation as required;
- Manage and maintain legal documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and regulatory standards;
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal representatives acting on behalf of the Bank;
- Represent the Bank on notarial deeds of loan, waivers, and other banking-related instruments;
- Advise on appropriate legal action in cases involving defaulting clients;
- Conduct legal research and provide support to various departments on legal matters when required;
- Assist the Compliance function with regulatory and compliance-related matters as necessary;
- Remain informed of legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the role and ensure internal practices reflect such updates.
Experience
- Hold a Doctor of Laws degree with solid knowledge of corporate, commercial, and real estate law;
- Be admitted to practice law in Malta;
- Preferably possess experience within a credit institution, financial services entity, or a Legal/Notarial office;
- Excellent command of both English and Maltese, written and spoken.
