Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and implement effective bid and order-winning strategies;
  • Analyse customer enquiries and translate requirements into commercially viable and technically sound solutions;
  • Prepare detailed costings, value-engineered designs, and proposal documentation as part of the tendering process;
  • Review administrative, commercial, and technical tender specifications to ensure full compliance;
  • Compile and submit comprehensive bid responses, addressing all enquiry requirements and responding to clarification requests when needed;
  • Coordinate and take accountability for all internal contributors involved in the bid process;
  • Conduct site visits and site surveys as required to support accurate proposals;
  • Interpret concept drawings and present technical and design solutions to clients, consultants, and other stakeholders;
  • Follow up on submitted proposals, attend negotiations, and support the conversion of opportunities into purchase orders and contracts;
  • Act as the main internal point of contact for clients during the enquiry and bidding stages;
  • Liaise with local and international suppliers to negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery conditions;
  • Review supplier quotations and proposals for technical accuracy and commercial suitability;
  • Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and contract variations;
  • Review contracts and purchase orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with agreed terms;
  • Initiate project setup within the internal ERP system following order confirmation;
  • Follow up on deposit payments and commercial milestones for confirmed works;
  • Prepare and deliver structured project handovers supported by complete and accurate documentation;
  • Manage multiple concurrent enquiries and projects by prioritising tasks, monitoring workloads, and escalating risks where necessary; 
  • Ensure internal processes, tools, equipment, and working environments support the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standard operating practices;
  • Oversee implementation of company standards and certifications;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all documentation is properly filed and easily traceable;
  • Source, negotiate, and manage procurement of materials and services;
  • Plan and coordinate inventory management and stock control activities;
  • Ensure subcontractors operate in line with company requirements and standards;
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory functions to ensure cost efficiency and material availability;
  • Promote best practices and high performance standards across the team;
  • Identify training and development needs and support continuous skill enhancement;
  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop team members to foster a high-performance working environment;
  • Address performance or disciplinary matters when required and lead by example;
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction across all project stages;
  • Maintain proactive, professional, and transparent communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams;
  • Promote compliance with health and safety standards, best practices, and legal requirements;
  • Review financial data and project performance to support profitability and cost control;
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets and key performance indicators.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical sales, sales engineering, or similar client-facing engineering role;
  • Experience within the safety and security sector is required;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred;
  • In possession of a valid Maltese driving licence;
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding, or actively working towards obtaining, the Engineering Profession Warrant.
